Short fiction to 2000 words.

#2 Green River Grande—Poetry

Any subject, any form, to 50 lines.

#3 Green River Lean—Fiction

Short short fiction or flash fiction to 1,000 words, must have all elements of story. Make every word count.

#4 Suzanne Suddeth Memorial Prize— Prose or Poetry

Prose (double-spaced) or poetry (rhymed or free-verse) written for children 12 years old and younger, 500 words or less.

#5 Rubye Fowler Memorial Prize— Creative Nonfiction

Poetry that addresses social injustice or environmental issues surrounding how we live on this planet, but tell it in a new way. 32 line limit, no rhyming.

#12 Persona Poem—Poetry

The Greek word “persona” means mask. In a persona poem, written in the first person, the writer imagines that he/she is an object, an animal, another person. The writer dons a mask and writes from another’s point of view.
